We are dedicated to caring for the sick and injured of the Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance District. We are community members serving the community in one of the most rewarding and satisfying ways, making our home a better place to live for all. Our Profile:The Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corps (WWHAC) is a... non-profit agency contracted to the Town of Babylon, which is located in Suffolk County within New York State. We provide premium Emergency Medical Services within the Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance Improvement District. We have been providing this service since our establishment in 1979. We became a New York State Certified Ambulance Service in 1983, the first in the town of Babylon and one of the first on Long Island. It became the first in the Town of Babylon to offer Semi-Automated Defibrillation in 1984. Also in 1984, the Corps began to provide Advanced Life Support to the community. It was the first in New York to provide an Advanced Life Support First Responder Car, and the first to utilize Supervisors' vehicles to further facilitate operations.. The WWHAC consists of the corporation, comprised of the Board of Directors, their employees, and the ambulance squad. The squad, which is comprised of the volunteers, provides the actual service rendered by the Corps. The squad responds to around 2500 calls for assistance every year in an area that encompasses four square miles. This statistic makes us one of the busiest volunteer ambulance corps on Long Island. We operate under the auspices of the Suffolk County Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services Division.
